I am currently reading a memoir entitled Chasing the Shore by David Weale, a native of Prince Edward Island. I picked this book up on a recent trip to PEI - I wanted to read the words of someone who has lived on the Island’s beautiful landscape. So far, it has been a wonderful read. My favourite passage thus far:
"What I call my ‘self’ appears most days to be a very small island in an immense ocean, but I have discovered that what seems to be separate is not separate at all, but is connected beneath the surface of consciousness to all that is. Specifically, I am thinking of those translucent occasions in my life when I became aware that we are all the tips of a concealed greatness that is, most of the time, beyond our abilities to discern - a dark continent beneath the water.”
