Illustrator Maira Kalman finds inspiration while walking the city streets and veering off the prescribed path.
Just a few lines that stood out for me:
“Stop thinking and just do whatever it is you think you need to do.”
“Wonderful things happen when your brain is empty.”
“Walking enables your senses to really pick up lots of things and you can feel your body going through space.”
“Walking clears your brain and fills your soul.”
“When you see something that makes your heart go ‘ahhh… that’s really fantastic’ then why shouldn’t you record that? Even if it wasn’t supposed to be part of the story. Because that’s what you’re responding to. That’s what’s making you come to life with feeling.”
“It’s very important not to be too bored for too long …like more than one minute.”
Another great find from my friend Nadia.
I just love watching the colour melt into the paper.

Opening Our Eyes trailer
“Mother/daughter filmmakers, circle the globe on a 99-day journey around the world, seeking people who are making a positive difference in our world.
They discover the power of the individual - the power within each of us. The global power of “one”.
It was life changing.”
